A data breach at Apple supplier Tata Electronics has exposed confidential documents, supplier lists, and test images of the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro.
The leak at the Indian Tata Group has revealed new details about Apple’s upcoming smartphone models. According to internal sources, more than 200,000 stolen documents are linked to the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, which are expected to launch in September 2026. At least six leaked files reportedly connect specific components to individual suppliers. The information includes details on motherboard chips as well as battery and camera components.
The dataset totals 630.4 gigabytes and was published by the ransomware group World Leaks in June. In addition to Apple-related documents, the leaked data also contains information from Tesla, TSMC, and Qualcomm.
iPhone 18 Pro images reportedly surface in India
Besides component lists, the documents include photographs of devices that underwent drop tests at a Tata manufacturing facility in early 2026. The images show a gray smartphone with a triple-camera setup and the Apple logo, identified as the iPhone 18 Pro.
Many of the files carry confidential Apple watermarks and internal codenames for the upcoming product generation. The disclosure provides insights into Apple’s supply chain strategy, which the company typically keeps private. The documents show, among other things, when Apple sources components from only a few suppliers or distributes orders among multiple partners. This could reveal information about the company’s negotiating position.
Investigation launched and system access tightened at Tata
The incident comes as Apple continues to expand production in India to reduce its reliance on China. Tata Electronics serves as both a component supplier and an assembly partner for the company. Following the breach, Tata Electronics has tightened its security measures. Employee access to sensitive systems has been restricted, and external security experts have been brought in to investigate the incident.
Apple is also reviewing the breach and working with its supplier on long-term security strategies. At the same time, Apple announced plans to accelerate security updates for its devices, as AI-powered hacking tools are reducing the time between the discovery of a vulnerability and its exploitation.
