An unannounced ChatGPT plan called Pro Max has appeared in the ChatGPT interface. It is reportedly priced at $500 USD per month and could offer faster Codex performance.
OpenAI appears to be preparing a new ChatGPT plan called Pro Max. The previously unannounced subscription has appeared in ChatGPT’s subscription interface alongside Plus and the existing Pro plans, as the account TestingCatalog discovered on X. It is not yet known when the plan will become available.
$500, or $600 Including Taxes
One version of the page lists a price of $500 per month, while another shows $600 including local taxes or VAT. According to the description, Pro Max is designed to offer “the fastest work and Codex.” The plan also includes access to the most capable frontier models, maximum Memory capacity, 100 GB of file storage, and early access to new features. However, early access is already included in the existing $200 USD Pro plan. Specific usage limits for Pro Max have not yet been disclosed.
Possible Use of Cerebras Hardware
The higher speed could be powered by hardware from Cerebras, BleepingComputer speculates. OpenAI uses the chipmaker’s processors for particularly fast inference. In early 2026, Codex-Spark launched on Cerebras with more than 1,000 tokens per second. Later, OpenAI demonstrated GPT-5.6 Sol in a Cerebras-powered Ultrafast mode delivering up to 750 output tokens per second. Neither OpenAI nor Cerebras has confirmed any connection between the hardware and Pro Max.
New Sign-Ups for $200 Pro Suspended
OpenAI currently offers two Pro plans: Pro for $100 USD, which provides five times the usage of Plus, and Pro for $200 USD, which provides 20 times the usage. Since September 10, 2026, new sign-ups and upgrades to the $200 USD plan have been temporarily suspended. Existing subscriptions remain active. Customers whose $200 USD Pro access ends may, under certain conditions, return to the plan once within 30 days. OpenAI does not provide a reason for the suspension in its help article.
