Apple is preparing iOS 27.2, the next major update for the iPhone. In the beta, the company is expanding Dual Capture to group calls, reorganizing Apple Podcasts and bringing user profiles to the Apple TV app.
Apple is working on iOS 27.2, the next major iPhone update. According to 9to5Mac, iOS 27.1 is expected to be released only for the foldable iPhone Duo. Apple released iOS 27.0.1 on September 28. There is no release date for iOS 27.2 yet. The biggest change in the beta is a redesigned Health app. Siri AI also now supports French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. The beta also introduces the following features.
Dual Capture Comes to Group Calls
With iOS 27, Apple introduced Dual Capture in FaceTime. On compatible iPhones, the feature displays video from both the front and rear cameras at the same time. Users tap the camera-switch button to activate the rear camera while keeping the front camera running. So far, Dual Capture has only been available for one-on-one calls. With iOS 27.2, Apple is bringing the feature to group FaceTime calls as well.
New Home Screen in Apple Podcasts
In the Podcasts app, Apple is splitting the existing “Up Next” queue on the home screen into two sections. “New Episodes” replaces “Up Next” and displays the latest episodes from subscribed shows. Below it, a new “Continue Playing” section collects episodes that users have already started.
Profiles Come to the Apple TV App
The Apple TV app is getting user profiles on the iPhone for the first time. The feature is already available on tvOS. After the update, users will see a profile selection screen the first time they launch the app. The screen can be permanently hidden. Depending on the selected profile, the app adjusts its content and recommendations. When a child profile is active, the app displays only age-appropriate shows and movies from Apple.
