The United States has repeatedly accused hacker groups with ties to Iran of carrying out cyberattacks. Most recently, even FBI Director Kash Patel was targeted. Now, a new incident has emerged.

Hackers with connections to Iran are conducting cyberattacks on critical U.S. infrastructure, according to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). The groups are specifically targeting industrial facilities accessible via the internet, the agency said. Government agencies as well as water supply and energy sector facilities are among those affected.

As a result, control interfaces frequently display false data, leading to operational disruptions and financial damages. Further details on the full extent of the attacks were not immediately available.

Just a week and a half ago, FBI Director Kash Patel reportedly fell victim to a cyberattack. A group with ties to Iran claimed responsibility, according to the New York Times and other outlets. The U.S. State Department has offered a reward of up to ten million dollars for information leading to the identification of the Iranian hacking team.
