Microsoft has unveiled a new Surface Pro, a new Surface Laptop, and an AI-powered Surface Mouse at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit.
At Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit developer conference in Maui, Hawaii, Microsoft introduced the second generation of its ARM-based Surface devices: the 12-inch Surface Pro and the 13-inch Surface Laptop, both powered for the first time by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon X2 Plus. The company also unveiled a new Surface Mouse.
Surface Pro and Surface Laptop Get New Snapdragon Chip
The Snapdragon X2 Plus inside the Surface Pro features six cores clocked at up to 4.03 GHz and an NPU capable of delivering 80 TOPS for on-device AI processing. The Surface Pro features a 25 percent brighter, 500-nit display and can be configured with 16 or 24 GB of RAM and 256 or 512 GB of storage. It weighs 0.69 kilograms and offers a resolution of 2,196 by 1,464 pixels at up to 90 Hz.
The chassis is made from 86 percent recycled material. Pricing starts at $1,149.99 USD.
The Surface Laptop also features a 500-nit display with a comparable brightness increase, a resolution of 1,920 by 1,280 pixels at 60 Hz, two USB-C ports, one USB-A port, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4. Microsoft rates battery life at up to 22.5 hours, with pricing starting at $1,199 USD. On both devices, a new black color option replaces the previous Ocean Green variant.
Performance Gains Over the Previous Generation
Compared with the previous generation, Microsoft promises up to 60 percent higher graphics performance on the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop, up to 95 percent faster local AI inference through the NPU, up to 17 percent faster workloads in Microsoft Office applications, and up to 18 percent greater energy efficiency. On the Surface Pro, Microsoft says the efficiency gains can translate into an additional hour of web browsing.
Brett Ostrum, Corporate Vice President of Surface Devices at Microsoft, highlighted the performance improvements enabled by the new Snapdragon chip as a key selling point of the new generation.
Alongside the two devices, Microsoft introduced the new Surface Mouse. It features an ambidextrous design, Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity, a customizable action button, and haptic feedback that works with Windows 11 Haptic Signals. The mouse is priced at $79.99 USD.
Ink Canvas Adds a New AI-Powered Workspace
A key feature of the new Pro series is Ink Canvas, a new workspace designed for pen input. It combines handwriting, sketches, and annotations with AI-powered image generation and automatic summaries of on-screen content.
The AI features in Ink Canvas require a Microsoft 365 subscription. Starting October 13, 2026, Ink Canvas will come preinstalled on the new Surface Pro and will also be available as a separate download from the Microsoft Store for other compatible Windows devices.
The new Surface Pro, Surface Laptop, and Surface Mouse are scheduled to become available in select markets starting October 13, 2026, including for business customers.
