Apple is cutting more than 200 jobs as it reallocates resources toward Siri AI, the forthcoming version of its voice assistant rebuilt around artificial intelligence, according to a report by Bloomberg.
Around 100 of the affected positions are within the Vision Pro organization, including much of the team responsible for gaming and parts of the staff working on immersive video content. Another roughly 100 jobs are being cut across Siri and software teams.
The restructuring of the Siri organization is tied to the development of Siri AI, which is based on a new technical architecture. The shift requires different expertise within the team, prompting Apple to eliminate a limited number of existing roles, reallocate resources, and create new positions for the upcoming version of the assistant.
Similar changes are underway within the Intelligent Systems Experience team, which is responsible for AI features. As more teams develop and integrate their own AI capabilities across apps, devices, and services, Apple is looking to align its internal organization more closely with these priorities and accelerate development. Here, too, some existing roles are being eliminated while new positions are created.
Affected Employees Can Apply for Other Roles
In a statement, Apple confirmed that it is realigning individual teams to further develop its businesses and deliver the best possible experiences for users. While the changes are creating new positions, a limited number of existing roles are also being affected. The company said it was grateful to the employees impacted by the restructuring for their contributions and intends to support them through the transition. This includes giving affected workers the opportunity to apply for other positions within Apple.
