At Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo, two pallets of Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards from manufacturer Zotac have disappeared. This was announced by Brazilian electronics distributor Oderço on Instagram. The company puts the value of the shipment at around 2.5 million reais, roughly equivalent to 470,000 US dollars. Oderço did not specify how many graphics cards the shipment contained.
“This is merchandise worth around 2.5 million reais at purchase price, and so far we have no answers.”
Oderço
According to its own statements, Oderço has been active in electronics and IT distribution for more than 38 years. The distributor published the announcement after receiving no official response regarding the whereabouts of the shipment. It is now waiting for further tracking information. Whether the goods were stolen or misdirected is unknown. Statements from airport operators or authorities have not yet been provided.
Tight Supply, High Prices
The RTX 5090 is currently in short supply. Nvidia launched the graphics card in January 2025 with a list price of 1,999 US dollars. According to a spot check by Tom’s Hardware, third-party sellers on Amazon in the US are now offering it for around 8,500 dollars; it is unavailable at major retailers like Best Buy and on the Nvidia store. The underlying reason is high demand for chips and memory for AI data centers.
On October 17, according to reports by Taiwanese media, Nvidia denied rumors of a production halt for the RTX 5090. However, Senior Vice President Jeff Fisher acknowledged that the supply chain is constrained. Nvidia will continue shipping the card.
